The measurement tool that CNC manufacturing cannot do without, I have to say calipers. According to different functions and specifications, it can be divided into dial calipers, digital calipers and vernier calipers. This article mainly introduces the difference between them.
Calipers
What is a dial caliper?
A caliper is a length measuring tool. Its appearance is similar to that of a vernier caliper, but it is a faster and more accurate measurement tool than a vernier caliper. There are three types: 0.01, 0.02, and 0.05. When the indicator pointer rotates one circle, the index value of 0.01 is 1mm, the index value of 0.02 is 2mm, and the index value of 0.05 is 5mm. The measuring range of the vernier caliper with meter: 0~150, 0~200, 0~300 three ranges.

Digital caliper
What is a digital caliper?
It is a length measuring tool that digitally displays the measured value. It is an instrument for measuring length, inner diameter and outer diameter. Digital display vernier caliper adopts grating, capacitance grid and other measuring systems. The digital caliper is a length measuring tool, which uses measuring systems such as capacitive grids and magnetic grids to display the measured values ??digitally. The common resolution is 0.01mm, and the allowable error is ±0.03mm/150mm. There is also a high-precision digital caliper with a resolution of 0.005mm and an allowable error of ±0.015mm/150mm. The digital display caliper reads intuitively and clearly, and the measurement efficiency is high.

Vernier Caliper (VERNIER CALIPER) is a measuring tool for measuring length, inner and outer diameter, and depth. The vernier caliper consists of a main ruler and a sliding vernier attached to the main ruler. The main ruler is generally in millimeters, and there are 10, 20 or 50 divisions on the cursor. According to different divisions, vernier calipers can be divided into ten-degree vernier calipers, 20-degree vernier calipers, fifty-degree vernier calipers and so on. The vernier has 9mm with 10 graduations, 19mm with 20 graduations, 49mm with 50 graduations.
There are two movable measuring claws on the main ruler and the vernier of the vernier caliper, namely the inner measuring claw and the outer measuring claw. The inner claw is usually used to measure the inner diameter, and the outer claw is usually used to measure the length and outer diameter.
